Windows for 15ft cuddy

Hi brains trust, looking for inspiration. A few of the lads have got together to restore an old fibreglass boat. Engine is running sweet and the hull is solid. The fixed windows in the half cabin were in an awful state with sealant on sides and non standard aluminium strips top and bottom. We have removed them and are trying to come up with ideas for replacement. I suggested perspex fitted in a rubber strip with locking strip (like and old fashioned car w8ndscreen). Is this a viable DIY job? It is an irregular diamond shape cutout in the cabin. We have no idea of the boat manufacturer. The HIN code is WWA for maker.

first, do you have paperwork on the boat indicating you are the owner? make sure that is in place before starting a restoration or you may have a really nice yard planter



second, depending where the port lights are located, you may want something more substantial than an H-extrusion of rubber and a lock. windows dont do well pushing water like they do air.

most port lights have a good frame and are bedded in with a sealant.


VIP rubber and Uni-Grip both make extrusions for the RV market.

I do not believe you will be able to use a preformed window gasket on 90 degree angles.Require a radius for the turns. That would explain the current fit out you have.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Here are pictures of the challenge! And of the HIN. Suggestions really welcome as to how to fit fixed windows in the cabin. The old perspex was bent and discoloured. Was contemplating laser cut persp3x fitted using automotive windscreen sealant.
