Hello,

I'll be changing out my plugs on my 96 four winns with a 5.7Gl volvo penta engine . I'm going with Ac delco that the volvo penta plug number is interchangeable with.. It also says I can use a champion plug.Question is I've seen 3 diffrent gap numbers..A online manual shows .060. The ac delco plugs preset at .040. And I've seen where it says. 035 was the gap for the champion plug. I font believe my sticker is on the flame arrestor to go by that. Can someone confirm exactly what's the correct gap setting?

Thank you
Robert

Should be .045 but would be better with a serial number

Yes, its the longer number
One is on top and is maybe 7 or 8 digits, but serial number is longer

Those numbers are not coming up in the search

I'm using a 99 Merc 5.7 for reference and it uses MR43LTS and gap at .045. The MR43T where used on non-vortec motors and gap is .035

Yours being a GL but don't know which (A or B or C or ...)
VP is showing 21467472 and older number is 3858996

The numbers are Iridium plugs which cross to AC 41-993 or Champion RA12PYP or cross to NGK
Its recommended to not regap Iridium plugs because they are so easy to be damaged
