1989 force85... guess what? no spark in top hole..

it did run on all three but after I rebuilt the carbs it stated acting up.. no spark in top hole.. changed coil, no sp... swapped coils with middle hole still no spark in top hole.. check the normal stuff... all looks good.. gonna pull the flywheel see what's going on in there.. i have the cdi box from the 50hp same part number.. where would you start.. ?

I would start at;
inspecting the trigger-wires very carefully for broken wires/connectors by pulling on the wires; they tend to break under the shrink-wrap at the terminal-strip

You can also try swapping the packs around and see if the spark returns to #1
You'll still need a pack but this way you'll be sure what the problem is.
As SOP I usually change all the wire connectors for the trigger and packs.
Just make sure the ID tags are on them when done.

not at the shop right now so I'm sitting here thinking... it's funny when I hook the top plug wire to it's plug it wont fire at all, will backfire pretty good stopping the rotation right quick.. as soon as I unplug the top plug wire it fires on the remaining plugs.. did the same with both coils the original one and the coil from the 50hp.. first thing is checking the wires coming out of the trigger... need to get a DVA adapter

Check the Fly-wheel KEY if its sheared it will fire at the wrong time

Replace all lugs at the thin wires at terminal strip that has shrink tube.
Use lugs that you crimp.
Seams like one trigger wire is loose, but looks like number 2.

Why not solider them with new heat shrink
