I'd like to run my stereo while docked or anchored. Currently no power to accessories when engine is off. What's best way to wire it up.

Depends on the boats wiring scheme and your attention to detail.

You could wire it into the accessory wire at the ignition switch (assuming you have that function available) or you could wire it directly into a fuse panel.

Of course, if you forget to turn off the battery switch and the radio you run the risk off of a dead battery upon your return

My original plan was to replace ignition switch with on that has an accessory function. Thought maybe someone had a different take on the situation. Thanks for your input.

Usually when a person asks about wiring a stereo system on a boat, they want the most powerful, loudest, meanest stereo system anyone can think of that can be heard across most large bodies of water. But they forget to understand, a boat has to either have a separate battery system for such a monstrosity or you will one day have a dead battery when you need it. The bigger (more wattage/current draw) the stereo system needs, the quicker the battery gets drained. So tying into a cranking battery isn't a grant idea unless you limit how long you will play that system and how loud you want it.

If you have plans to only use such a system at the dock, maybe you could use "shore power" to run it. Just an idea...
