Recently changed my water pump on my 1987 evinrude 40hp. The old wear plate had no gasket under it, the kit came with a gasket.
when installing the new gasket I ripped it! I put it all back together with no gasket and used a thin layer of permatex form-a-gasket 2. would this suffice? I can either wait a week for a new gasket, or buy a roll of gasket paper.
maybe I don’t even need it as old plate didn’t have one?? The diagram for motor doesn’t show a gasket either.
