I think I have an engine leak. 1985 Mercruiser 140 sterndrive

See photo. What kind of a leak does this look like? It seem to be a recent leak next to the push rod cover.
Next question, how do I stop the leak? :)

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... Yer picture shows the result of the leak, not the source,.....

Follow the results as high as possible, that's 'bout where the leak is,.....

Are ya boatin' in salt water,..??

Is it rust, or oil in the picture,..??

Maybe just how condensation finds gravity. Is boat saltwater used? Regardless, sea spray may find its ways into engine compartment and then gravity does the rest.

I use it in salt and fresh water (mouth of river area). It's rust. I just realized there's a good chance it's water that dripped in from the engine cover/ sun deck when my boys and their friends kept climbing out of the water and onto the back of the boat dripping wet!
