In pre-1998 boats (like my 1995 Doral 230/5.7 Alpha One Gen II), the speedometer hose connected to the lower unit with an annoying twist and pull thing with tiny plastic tabs that can break, as mine did.
There's a threaded hole in the lower unit with the bottom half of this dumb quick disconnect.

1998+ the hose has a simpler and more reliable push-button disconnect, but the part in the lower unit was a single molded piece that you have to pull the bottom gearcase off to replace.

I'm pretty sure this is the old-style, but without the mercruiser markup:

I can't figure out the new-style.

Does anyone know:
a. The size of the threaded hole in the old-style connector -> is this just 1/8" NPT?
b. The brand/type of quick connect for the new-style connector (besides "mercruiser")

I'd like to just thread in a new-style quick connect and be done with it, rather than replacing the crappy old-style one.
Thinking to just buy these two parts:

Did some more research, and realized I should just put in a GPS speedometer so I can know how fast I'm actually going.
