How do I test tilt and trim motor relays on 2002 Johnson 70hp four stroke? Motor won't go down, just clicks. Goes up fine.

Ha, I just replaced the relays on one. So, you have two trim switches, one on the cowl and one on the remote control? If neither work, but you hear a click when you press the button, many times maybe 99 out of 100 its the relay/solenoid.

The suzukiPart is cheaper. 38410-94552.

Look at the relays. While the button is depressed check for 12v at the green wire. If no replace reelay.

Thats actually the part number for the "up" relay. I only stock the one. They are identical with the exception of the wire color coming out of them. That part number has the small blue wire, not the pink.

You may be able to switch the relays. If the problem follows, it is very likely the relay.

Since the motor does trim up, the PTT motor is OK.

Switch the wires from one relay to the other. Now, if it goes down but not up, you know for sure it's a bad relay to make it go down.
