Cushion for top of Back-to-Back seats

I often find myself sitting on top of my back to back seats while driving. Anyone have a lead on a cushion that would stay up there so I'm not sitting on the hard top of the seats. I can't seem to find anything that looks like it would work. Thanks.

I use a floating seat cushion I bought at Wally World, and it works great. Believe it or not, it is memory foam and good support for my FAT backside @ 212lbs.

It seems to me that I saw them advertised. Check Wise and some of the other boat seat OEMs.

An alternative would be a thick cushion to raise up your tushy....

when i was younger, i was pulled over by MN dnr. my violation was sitting on the top of the back to back seats. i was not sitting properly in my boat, on a seat.... i just got a warning, but, i was still in violation. i suppose state to state violations may vary, so this comment is just fyi.

like you, i like to sit on the top of them seats, but since that warning, i sit inside my boat, on the seat. no point in inviting the dnr over to my boat if i can help it. and i do see the possibility that sitting like that could be unsafe.

if i want a little bit of sitting higher, i sit on my type IV pfd that is placed on the seat cushion.

Not sure what a MN DNR or TWRA are, but I have been sitting on the back of the seat for 30 years in our lakes without a second glance from our Sheriffs. This boat just doesn't have as much padding on top. I mainly like to do it when trying to talk over the windshield to a rider in the water, or coming into a dock/trailering. I can definitely understand all of the concerned points, though. Thanks for the ideas.

MN DNR = Minnesota Department of Natural Resources; TWRA = Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

On the impound we do most of our boating in, we have about 5 or so agencies patrolling at any given moment: TWRA, Two different county sheriffs, USCG Aux, and State Park Service. They're not all out at the same time, or in the same parts of the lake. But the Sheriff and the TWRA have both stopped me for sitting on the back of the seat. Not sure why, because I see drivers standing all the time, but supposedly it's the equivalent of sitting on the gunwale underway.

On my boat if I put a cushion under me, or kind of sit on my leg, then I can easily see and talk over the windshield - and they don't seem to mind either of those

They do make them. I just never saw the need so it isn't one of my bookmarks.

Google it and i'm sure it'll come up if you take the time.

I have done that before on my Invader. I stopped after having to repair the seat and when I had other passengers in the boat that needed to use the seat.

I thought about looking for something or making something as mentioned in earlier posts.

I found that sitting on a round fender was a great solution. It was comfortable as it fit perfectly on the cushioned seat, is rubber and filled, with air. It is easy to move and stuff in the space next to the seat and gunnel when chilling out and it is not needed. When the boat is not in use I store that fender under that seat along with my first aid kit and fire extinguisher other fenders are stored under the bow seats.

I tend to shift from standing with a knee on the seat and sitting on the fender when underway depending upon the situation and my need to see.

I never had an issue (Knock on wood) with local law enforcement or DNR here in Georgia (home state), South Carolina, or Alabama when boating.

I just purchased a 2002 Chaparral 220 SSi that has the captains chair with flip up bolster. We will see how that works.

When we redid the interior we redesigned the drivers seat, so we could sit normally or sit up high and drive. The top cushion has 3 positions, depending on where and how you want to sit. Most of the time its forward and the steering wheel can be reached. There's also a slide out seat on the back of the cabinet.

For all that contemplate sitting up high, I certainly hope y'all continue to use your safety cut-off lanyard.
