Help with 1968 Johnson 33 Electric

I’m old but new to learning about outboards. When I was young I was a wader. Still believe there’s nothing better than wading, throwing a jig and seeing your line swim as you reel up the slack and set the hook on a beautiful smallie! But now I’m old with arthritic knees. Can’t do that anymore. Bought a bass project boat. Fixed it up and sent it to college with my son. Now I’m working on a runabout restoration. Part of that is bringing a 1968 Johnson 33 electric back to life. I’m looking for help on identifying parts and general advice on how to take it apart and put it back together. I have $100 into it. I bought it for the purpose of learning about outboards so honestly if I somehow ruined it it’s not the end of the world. But if I could get it running smoothly it would make a great time appropriate addition to my 1967 runabout. So I’m going to start with one simple question. Is this the fuel pump and if so how does it work with only one line coming to it? Wouldn’t it have to have a line in and a line out? If it is not the fuel pump what is it? Thanks! If this goes well I will ask questions one at a time! I also have a service manual on order. Should be here within two weeks. But for now...

That is NOT the fuel pump.------It is a vacuum switch to prevent the motor from running away in neutral.-----Shuts down half of the ignition when there is high vacuum in the intake system.-----These 33 HP motors are wonderfully simple and easy to maintain.----Run very nice when in good condition.

Thank you so much. Dare I ask how I could test this? And as a follow up then is the fuel pump part of the fuel filter assembly?

Follow the hoses to find the fuel pump.------Or I am going to be BLUNT and say close your tool box until you read your manual.----I don't mind helping but------

Don't worry about the vacuum cut-out switch yet. It cannot do a dang thing unless the motor is in runaway condition.

Ok got my service manual. Learning a lot. Think I’m gonna take apart piece by piece just to learn. But first I did a thorough examination and found what I think might be a missing bolt or something threaded. Gonna give three pictures at various levels of zoom for reference. If anybody knows please help!

for reference I should add this picture from the other side. It’s the mirror position. Seemingly a bolt that maybe goes through or near the crankcase? Possible one bolt comes to the surface and the other does not?

Those bolts come through from the inside, behind the reed plate. I've serviced many hundreds of these and similar engines and have never, ever seen a problem with those bolts missing or loose. It wouldn't run without them. Find something else to worry about.

FR-----Well said, the motor was really well built 52 years ago / simple / reliable / easy to repair / run very nicely.-------Not sleek and computer designed like some plastic motors today.

That motor has the same crankshaft / con rods as the 40 HP of the day.------Well built and does not go ----" boom " ----like some modern computer designed engines.
