I randomly purchased this boat just after seeing it on a road trip to VA. I saw it and was instantly connected. Got it pretty inexpensive too.. I guess because it needs a total overhaul. That is why I am here, to gather information on how I can have this boat properly restored. I was told by the previous owner, who also lost the keys, that the boat was a 1950 model. I'd like to know for sure. I know it's about 18 ft. long, and the motors have worked since he's owned it. He use to hook it up to a hose I was told by a guy across the street at the tire shop. He got me rolling, thank the lord.

What is the age exactly?
Will this be a tough restoration for the person doing it?
How easy or hard is it for an outboard mechanic to work on a Sea King engine?
Is the trailer as old as the boat?
Any estimates on restoration prices...just ball park...
Is it worth it to restore? I think so, I love it.

The trailer is also a piece of work. Double axle'd 4 small tires. Amazingly it made the 420 mile trip from VA to SC. This boat has been sitting, out of the sun luckily, for easy 5-10 years. And it's time to get her back looking pretty and churning up a wake.

Any advice or info on this old boat would be greatly appreciated

Early to mid 6os based on a Starcraft Holiday or similar (Viscount, maybe?)

From a few hundred to several thousands in resto costs depending on exact condition and what you want to do. And thats your cost plus 100% your own labor. Prices for someone else to do the work will make it nearly impossible to justify the expense. That includes the motor work. That alone could get expensive quick, if you have to pay a mechanic. Assuming you can find 1 locally to do the work. Many wont because the expense quickly escalates beyond the basic worth of the motor and customers abandon the motor, after work has already been done. Lots of members like (prefer?), work on and use old motors, so if its free and not locked up, you might be able to get it going w simple maintenance items and $50-100 in electrical parts and lower unit service amd impeller.

Good luck and welcome to iboats

Nice rig! However I don't see it at all as 1950. Early to middle 60's is much more like it. I bet the engines are about 1964. They look exactly like a 1964 25hp Gale that I used to have. The means they should just be re-badged OMC engines. Probably still easy to find parts for and reliable.

Quick googling,... looks like the outboards may be 1961.

The Gales should be easy for you to work on, if you're inclined.
http://www.omc-boats.org/maxw.html
is an index of the articles that got me started.

I agree the boat looks like early 1960's (the "lapstrake" sides weren't common in the 1950's), I'll bet the same age as the engines, which will have model numbers on them, which should tell you the year:

Sea King 1961 GG-18742A Deluxe Twin
Sea King 1961 GG-18743A Twin
Sea King 1961 GG-18744A Electric Start Twin
Sea King 1961 GG-18745A Twin
Sea King 1962 GG-18742B Deluxe Twin
Sea King 1962 GG-18743B Twin
Sea King 1962 GG-18744B Electric Start Twin
Sea King 1962 GG-18745B Twin
Sea King 1963 GG-18804A Deluxe Twin
Sea King 1963 GG-18805A Electric Start Twin
Sea King 1963 GG-18757P Twin
Sea King 1963 GG-18806A Twin

And as for time and money, that depends on how crazy you get!!
Biggest problem to deal with would likely be a rotted wooden floor.

Finally, some old Sea King info:

Thanks you guys. Going by those, brochures, it must be in the 60's era. Some of those 1950's models, especially the ones with the sleeper cabin... and all those cool designs look freaking awesome.
