mercruiser 140 head

My 140 head needs replacing I have a earlier head with smaller valves, is this compatable to my engine my head casting no is GM 2778854 engine No 4919943 1978 model i realise it will be down a little on power valve measurements are existing head INLET 1.94 EX 1.6
older good head INLET 1.072 EX 1.5

I think yes it is but you also may want to check the intake and exhaust ports line up on the manifold. Back in the day I think they offered multiple hp versions of the 3.0 like 115 and 135 hp.
it may also be a head of the 2.5 which was the little brother of the 3.0 , at work just the same just less hp

thanks scott yep you are right exhaust & inlet manifold doesnt line up properly so i still need a head for a 140 year manufacture , 1976 to 1979 model, serial no 4927923 checked out head manufactures and all say 1991 up which is different, so does any one have a good used 140 head to fit this model cheers dave

Well two way to make it work

one find a head to fit your intake , or find an intake to fit your working head.

where are you located ?
