Hello. I am restoring an Lightwin 3 hp 1963 model. The engine I am restoring came with an diffrent cylinderhead than I know i original. Previos ovner must have done the change. It seems like it have an cylinderhead that came from 1969 and later on 3 and 4 hp engines. Is it possible to use the newer cylinderhead? Maybe it is better? The reason why I want to use the newer type is that I have an 4 hp Johnson that I think is an late 60 or early 70 engine and this motor is in very good condition (the parts I have from that motor)
The 1963 I am restoring dose also have bad pistons and rings, so I hope I can take the pistons and rings from the Johnson. The only diffrence I can see is that the pistonrings seems not so wide on the Johnson. Diameter seems like.
I will post som pitchures with text.
Hope somone can help me, and sorry for my bad writing. I am an Norwegian 😀

Here is A pitchure of the boat that have my fathers 3 hp Evinrude. Both boat an engine is from 1963. The original engine is now in wery bad condition after 57 year of use in saltwater. Therefore I will restore an 1963, and suprice my old man. The boat is an typicalled old wooden boat on the westcoast of Norway, they were buildt in many diffrent sizes and have from 1 papir of oars up to 10 pairs. The constrruction metode goes back to the viking periode. The boats is called Oselver, and have always only 3 wide wooden plank on each side

I don't foresee any problem with your plans. The angled plugs are for hood clearance on newer models, but you appear to have plenty of room, either way.

Piston and rings should interchange, no problem.
