Hi everybody I’m in the process of rebuilding a lower unit on a 1972 9.5 the unit leaked some water in it and started slipping in neutral at high speeds. it would not physically shift into neutral it stays in drive but at a certain speed it pops out of gear while still in drive. I took the forward gear off and it does look damaged so I will be replacing it with a spare I have. As for the drive shift gear I’m not sure whether to replace it just to replace it or leave it as is. It doesn’t look badly worn at all but I’d like to see what you guys think.

did you make certain the side shift rod link is set ok and the shift rod is adjusted properly on top .

I am no gear expert but they don't look bad enough
