I'm trying to remove the manifold on a 1988 Searay Seville (4cyl. 3.0L Mercruiser). The four bolts came out nicely and the exhaust came free as well. My problem is the manifold itself doesn't budge. I've tried whacking it on 3 sides with a mallet and it wont come loose. Does anyone have some ideas on how to persuade it?

Thanks

I have a 73 140 not sure how much the design changed but mine is 3 bolts and 2 studs with nuts. Double check that everything is out. I had to give mine a whack with a 3lb hammer amd block of wood (not too hard and make sure you are holding the manifold so it doesn't fall.) It may have some rtv or corrosion holding it on

Thanks for the response. I rechecked to see if there were any brackets that bridged between the block and the manifold- didn't find any. I've whacked it from 3 directions (with a 3 lb hammer). tried whacking it some more still won't move.

Looking at the parts diagrams if it is a one piece exhaust design it should just be the bolts. If it is a 2 piece exhaust it has studs also. If you have everything out it is more than likely just corrosion or a gasket sealer holding it together. When I hit mine I put the piece of wood in between the block and manifold and hit it in a outward direction on the center and each side.

If you remove ALL 5 bolts comes off very easily
