Hi. I am new here. I have a 1991 Aquastar Carrera, with a 4.3 VP DP-C. I bought the boat last year and everything worked great. I went to pick it up to bring it home to get it cleaned up and I am unable to lift the outdrive. Fluid levels are acceptable. I took the lines off the pump and noticed that the oil was milky. I know that means water. That being said I live in Alberta, Canada. And it gets very cold on the winter.
I called a local repair shop and they stated that it is probably the pump. And mentioned $2000? Just looking for input, where to start before I cave and take it to the shop.
Thanks
Scott

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,........ Does the pump run, but not lift the drive, or are you gettin' no response when pushin' the button,..??

If no response, check, 'n clean the wirin' connections at the pump, 'n battery,....

Sorry. Forgot to mention that part. Pump runs, but won’t lift the drive.

your drive is above the limit of the trim and you are getting into the Tilt range

you are pulling up on the 2ndary switch to allow the drive to go up further, correct? trim is the thumb switch, the 2ndary switch is the one under the fingers

the other posible issue, if you hear the pump and this is all that it will raise, add fluid to the reservoir.

and a new pump is about $180, not $2000

So upon further inspection. It appears that the reservoir is cracked. I am assuming that is why I cannot build enough pressure to lift the drive. Now my question is can I just replace the reservoir? If so, how do I get the pump off of the reservoir?

drive will not lift from all the way down. I took the pump out and found the reservoir is cracked. I am hoping that I can find a replacement reservoir?
