My Mercruiser 4.3 MPI sometimes sounds an alarma beep twice every 10 to 12 seconds and sometimes does not.
A mechanic told me that it has to do with the electric fuel pump heating up. Is this so and how serious it is?

Find a new mechanic!

An intermittent beep is a signal that the ECM has detected a problem somewhere. You need to connect the diagnostic software and find out what has been causing the beep (it'll be recorded as a fault code). Many different problems have the same beep so no, we can't give you a quick answer without reading the codes.

Thank you Chris. I was thinking in changing the mechanic so I will follow your advice.
Anyway he runned the diagnostic thorough his computer in front of me before saying it was the pump.
What puzzles me is that it runs and accelerates OK and some times it begins beeping as soon as I turn the key, or stops beeping after 20/30 minutes of running.
Thanks again. Enjoy the weekend

You'll notice there's no fuel pump code in the list... If you can get a printout of the codes, or better still the output file, post it here and we can see what's going on.

Not that I want you to replace parts without knowing, but the highest failure part on the motor is the water pressure sensor. That said, if the impeller has not been changed, this to could be causing the issue

Iac can cause this. Think it’s a couple of beeps every so often. But need it plugged in really.
