Staying in Belize and there is no one that can help me to fix my boat engine.
Anyone with some feedback to why the engine cranks but will not start.I got the boat with the property and was standing for 5 years plus. Check the feul supply and that fine. Figure out that there is no spark at plugs. When I switch on the ignition I can hear the feul pump come on and switch of. Where do I begin to check for the problem.
Help will be appreciated

Yes, that's the one, so its not the kill switch

Check for 12V at the coil with key ON and while cranking
If power is there where most likely need a scanner.

When cranking, does the tachometer show at least 300 RPM or more?

OK I will check for 12v and if RPM IS 300 or more when cranking. What happens if it's less then 300 sir?

If less then 300, its not turning over fast enough to start

At the moment it cranks very slow. Could it be because it was standing this long. I did fit a new 80 anp battery

Cranking slowly can mean a few things.
Weak or to small a battery, corroded battery cables, weak starter

80 anp battery
Assuming 80 amp is Ampere hour Ah
Not sure about VP, but Merc list minimum battery requirement for the 5.0 and 5.7 is 150Ah, or 550 ccc/825 mca

Are the battery cables clean and tight on both ends? This includes the ground to the motor

Battery is a 600 ccc, so that is fine. Started to take out the plugs to crank it without plugs. Discovered that that these plug were never changed at all. Two of them are so full of rust that one actually broke off and the other one I can not even get the plug spanner to fit over it. The other six I managed to get out. Will still try with a little gentle persuasion to get them out. Can not think that people manage to let it get to this point.

Rust on spark plugs may also mean rust on cylinder walls. If rust on the walls, tat would cause slow cranking

Google CPS, there are vids

Sounds like the battery to me. Said it loads previously. Very often these will turn over healthy...but will take the power away from the system enough for the thing not to fire up.

Will a scanner pick up a faulty crank shaft positioning sensor?
