I bought a 2019 chaparral boat new with Volvo Penta v6-240 engine. It has very low hours on the engine and boat. Last summer, I started having engine start problem. It seems the engine starts up but then shuts down immediately. First few times when it happened, I kept trying and after a few times the engine will keep running. Once it's warmed up I have no problem to start again. On second day it works fine. But if I leave it untouched for a week, then I run into the problem again. But after a few weeks, I found that repeated tries did not succeed anymore. So I made an appointment with dealer for dockside service. The day before the appointment, I tried again but magically I was able to start the engine just fine. So I canceled the appointment. The engine/boat has been working fine until a few days ago -- even after a long winter with winterization etc. I was able to start the engine just fine when I used it the first time in late spring.
However, to my disappointment, a few days ago the problem came back! The engine seems to be started and running for a few seconds then it shuts down. I tried a few times and had no luck to keep it running. Is it some sort of sensor problem? How can I diagnose and fix this problem?
Any tip/suggestion is highly appreciated!
