My 1997 Cobalt 233 has a Humminbird HDR200RM depth finder that displays but the numbers just jump around. Finally figured out that is because signal wire is not connected to transducer and transducer is messed up/busted. I can get the Humminbird Boat Angled Transducer XAP-6-16 online.

Has anyone recently had success reviving their 1997ish depth finder with a new transducer?

What epoxy did you use to mount transducer?

Was it difficult "pulling" the wire from the bigle up to the dashboard?

IMO you are better off just replacing the a depth finder that is that old.

A new one is more money, more work, creates more waste and will be made in China. No thanks; unless someone tells me I am waisting my time based on their experience attempting the same.

Your wasting your time messing with 25 year old electronics.

Sonar units flash when they loose connection with the transducer as a warning of invalid readings.

I wouldn’t spend 30 cents on the unit unless I knew beyond a reasonable doubt that the head unit is working.

Even then I would probably just replace everything. Too much time and effort involved to “maybe” save a couple of bucks.

Not to mention your pushing, if not passed the life expectancy of even the best designed and manufactured marine electronics.
