i have a 2007 volvo penta 5.0 gl the fuel pump stop working all relay ck ok kill switch ok fuse ok have ground no 12v any advice what can be the problem thanks
i hear about the diode i ck under the fuse box that is locate in top of the engine but i dont the diode there and can fine a diagram to se where is the location i replace alternator new to
So the fuel pump turns ON when starting the motor, but once running the pump shuts off
If that is the case then it is the diode. The diode should be at the on the green wire. Most any diode will work and can be had from a local electronics store. Get one that can handle 1.5 to 2 amps
Pull the relay, jumper the relay socket(30 to 87) to get the pump turned on and start the motor. Measure the voltage coming off the alternator L1 terminal. Then measure the voltage at the relay 85 terminal. If you get voltage at the alternator and not at pin 85, your diode is bad. My guess, its not the diode.
BTW, I always carried that jumper in my tool box so that I could always turn on the pump manually in an emergency.
ok thanks i work in hi end car and i start read what you send me and i did studied on 305 350 engine old people which i respect and when i look the system it make to my head so i look diagram in cars 1975 from there 1980 ,1985,and the new generation start in that year when the same engine start put port injection but look what i see in my boat it the same well thanks i will go tomorrow i dont have signal there but thanks god and you i can do test thanks thanks thanks for all info.i work in cars but hi end with many module but my dad get me into this he is old mechanic god bless you i call 4 mechanic never say what i do but they want to change all harness dont make any in my head thanks and for the diag.
i am a dinosaur with this wed side take me so long to get but when i have to fix cars and read diag. code and very hi end cars i am there thanks for knowledge
