New boater here. I have a '04 Mercruiser that will go into gear but will not rev up when I move the throttle. Starts and idles fine. I can move it off the slip when I put it in gear but nothing happens when I try to give it any juice. Any ideas?

similar thing I'm experiencing, I'm going to replace the spark plugs and see what happens.

What motor you working on, and serial numbers are best?

Move the throttle and see if the cable is moving the throttle body or carb

agree with AD, check to make sure your throttle linkage at the motor is moving

Thanks for the S/N, doesn't list digital throttle so should be cable

Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body (TB). Start the motor and see if it will rev up. Might be the linkage is broke

If the TB opens up and there is no more fuel it should die, but yours does not

Friend took this picture at the boat. I'm two hours away. What am I looking at?

your throttle cable is not connected

its hard to tell, however the plastic bit bolted to the throttle arm may be broken or cracked.
