Good day all. I have a 1996 Merc 5.7l lx which had a Thunderbolt V ignition with knock sensor. Due to on going issues and cost of module replacement I decided to swap the TB V for a Delco Voyager ignition. I removed the TB V and the knock sensor module, which was mounted at the rear of the distributor. Installing the delco went well following their instructions. Problem is the boat wont start. The Delco instructions never mentioned a system with a knock sensor but its mounted on the distributor. My question is, do I need to put the knock sensor module back in or is there a work around. I suspect something isnt getting energized that needs to be. I'll load some photos as well. Any help would be appropriate.

Knock module does not need to be there. How was the Delco installed, as in where was the power connections made?

Delco came with two wiring harnesses, one between the coil and distributor and plug with two pigtails one tail (grey connected to the tac wire in the main wiring harness and the other is purple which is from the old coil terminal. I turn the key and measured voltage at the new coil end plug.

It has a connector between Dizzy and coil
If you have an Alpha drive there should be a wire between the right connector on the Dizzy to the shift interruptor
The Dizzy module gets power power from the purple wire which use to feed the TBV.

This is a Bravo 2, no shift interrupter.

That's good
Then just the one connection between Dizzy and coil. Then just needs power from purple to run. The other connection on the coil would be for the Tach but its not needed to run

Thanks Alldodge for your input. I was able to get the boat running and timed. Turns out the distributor was out far enough that ignition wasnt possible. I started over finding TDC and so on. Fired right up. Thanks again
