I found a starcraft starfish 12 on a farm and have no idea how old it is. The tag on the transom dosen't have anything in the way of identifying serial numbers.. was that common at one point?

If there isnt a factory original HIN tag on the transom its pre-1972, may be as close to an age as you'll get. Based on the tag you posted, whcih has no HIN/VIN listed, you probably wont find one of the top right outside of the transom.

If there is no HIN then start looking at 1972 brochures/data sheets and keep going back thru the years until you find 1 thats similar, and call it good.

It should have a HIN number as Brunswick acquired Starcraft in 1988. Therefor it was built after that from the capacity plate information.

Just looked close at th4 capacity plate again. It reads that it is a replacement for the original with owner supplied information. So I guess that we are looking for pre 1972.

That is a pretty sharp looking boat now matter how old it is. The fish don't know the difference. Is that a F525 you are moving it around with?
