pivot pins wont go in

trying to install the pivot pin back in trim cyl & outdrive but wont budge, i removed the bushing an pin slides in fine but when i install the bushings pin wont slide in any tricks 1994 volvo penta sx please help!!!!!!!!!! it cant be that hard am i missing something it should go right though thanks

Often times the pivot pins end up swelling out a little bit, so they end up being a absolute bear to install.

What I've done many times in the past, is hook up the pivot pin in a drill, and take a couple thoudandths off by spinning it with the drill and using a 400grit piece of sandpaper, then 800grit, then 1200grit to get them back close to stock polish and etc.

Check to make sure your bushing isn't blockading the pivot pin first though, just in case you don't need to turn them down any.

Other than that, they should go in just fine as that's the only thing that stops them from going in if everything else is otherwise correct. (This also happens because they mushroom from someone in the past hammering the hell out of them with a drift to get them out).
