I am at my wits end. I'm hoping someone can give me a little insight. I was given this boat and motor 4 years ago and the original problem was the power pack! I bought the CDI Ring to set the gap and have done most of my own work. However a few weeks ago it started hesitating at full throttle and occasionally would just lose power then kick back up. A week ago we were heading down the lake and it just stopped running. Checked both coil packs and etc. When I pulled the flywheel I found that the Charge Coil had heated up and the resin pack had ran out of it. So I ordered a new charge coil and replaced it. I at this point have put on a backup power pack that I had on the shelf and the Charge Coil. I havnt messed with the stator or rectifier. The battery is good and is turning over fine. I am missing something and was hoping to get some insight on what direction I need to turn. I have a High School Bass club tourney this coming Saturday for one of my daughters. Was hoping to have the motor working by then or its gonna be a long tournament trolling. :)

Hey thanks for responding. I checked the compression top cylinder is 115 and the bottom is 113. I have no idea on spark, thats my problem. I have zero spark. Running down the lake just fine and then boom done. I did check the stator by checking ac voltage on all yellow wires and it's not getting anymore then 3.2 volts. Stator maybe the problem??

Yellow wires are alternator wires Battery charging only. Where did you get the new power pak? The UFI ignitions can be problematic.

I bought a OEM Johnson UFI #584486M 4 years ago from Marine Engine. I bought 2 of them and kept one on the shelf for a rainy day.

So what I'm guessing is that having no fire at the plugs would not have anything to do with the stator , charge coil or rectifier?

Charging system has nothing to do with spark. Go to CDI electronics they have a testing guide for them. I wont even put the UFI ignition back in. I always do the conversion to get the cdi out from under the flywheel. Have you checked the lanyard switch? The ignition switch if you have one?

Actually installed a new lanyard switch 3 weeks ago when the lanyard got pulled and the disc inside the switch disintegrated. So I had to install a new switch. After I installed the new switch everything seemed to work fine for a few outings out.
