Can some one explain how to fill the oil on the trim motor? 1978 Basstracker tx17.

you sure you have a 1978 TX-17? didnt the TX's come out in the 80's?

mercury 50. sorry had the boat for 4 years but still new to fixing and working on it.

come to think of it the date stamp on the motor is 1982.

in 1978 Bass pro shop had 3 models on the drawing board for 1981 model year launch. the Bass Tracker I, Bass Tracker II and Bass Tracker III. I believe the Tournement TX came out in 1983 and the first party barge came out in 84 or 85. I could be off a year or so.

what does your paperwork say it is?

BTW, on an early 80's 50hp, you raise the motor up, open the fill port and fill the reservoir on the TNT with oil

Still need to know what motor, the boats a TX17, but after 38yrs, motor may have changed. If it says Tracker on the OB, say so, still need the model#.
