Sadly I dropped one of the pins while removing the steering actuator and searched for hours but couldn’t locate. Could have possibly deflected into the gimbal housing from engine compartment opening and if so what to do now? It’s a Volvo penta 4.3 with SX outdrive.

If you are looking for the stainless steel pin that is held in place with a cotter pin you can use a 3/8” stainless bolt with a self locking nut.

Thanks, I’ll probably have to do that. My biggest concern is if the pin fell into the gimbal cavity in the transom will it cause an issue?

You will probably find the pin in the bilge after the boat runs on plane for a little while.
If it was to get into the flywheel housing that would be a problem. Not very likely to happen however.

Thanks, definitely hope it shows up later. Just sent the actuator to be rebuilt today so when it’s back and installed maybe I can shake it loose!

Use your phone camera to take pictures where you cannot see or get your head into places.
