I am confused about this hose that I have on this motor I just bought it has fuel coming out of it when turning over engine. I never seen a engine that provided fuel to combustion chamber externally. Can anyone explain to me why the fuel is coming thru this line. This is a 2 cycle motor approximately 1989 vintage. I am working on getting back into service

I could be wrong but it looks like the oil recirculation line.

I am not sure but does that mean fuel mix is fed to combustion chamber thru carb and this external line to cylinder chamber

Perhaps a 1992 model.----No----It is a recirculation line !----Best to look up how a 2 stroke motor works.----Perhaps look at motor parts details found online.----In my opinion this is not really a MERCURY motor.-----It is made offshore and rebranded as a Mercury.----Other companies market this same motor with different paint color and decals.

I have another 5 hp motor that does not have this line. I am interested in keeping these older motors going would like to learn more about the operation of these units thanks for the info

It is an " oil recirculation line " as clearly mentioned !
Ah. Fair play. Just looked at picture properly. Can see that’s the back end of the engine there. Thought I was looking at the carb initially. Not the head. Spot on.
