I apologize if this is not in the correct topic. I used to have an account here, but can’t get logged into it.

I have this 1966 Starcraft Fiberglass boat. It’s all original, and in pretty decent shape considerits age, with a 1966 Mercury 500. I haven’t had it out since 2018. It ran pretty good back then, but it currently won’t start, and doesn’t have spark. I know basically nothing about fixing any type of motor, so I am looking to sell it.

Any ideas on what I could possibly get for this? I’m in KS near a bunch of lakes/reservoirs.

Thanks!

Based on the pics it looks like too nice a boat to sell. If you do you'll get only a fraction of what its really worth.

If you simply don't want it, or don't want to go boating any more, that's one thing. But, if you are only selling it because it won't start, at least give the points thing a chance.

Look up a u-tube video and get some emery cloth. Its a simple fix and requires minimal tools. I have revived many a motor because the points were corroded because of non-use.

If that doesn't work, or you simply don't want to try, advertise it for 1000 and take 500 bucks if someone offers it.

Thanks. I’m going to check the points today. If it was running what do you think it could be worth? $1,800? I’m honestly thinking about selling it even if I get it running. I just don’t have time for it right now.
