I bought a 1978 campion model? Serial number is 7BI7325M79. So I’d like to find a webpage and service manuals. I am somewhat new to such a large vessel. And I’m not even sure what oil to use in the engine or the leg. I would like to restore it as much as possible to its original state. However some of the information from the metal plate is missing. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just referencing the picture of the HIN, which ends in 91. I wonder if the OP is talking about 2 boats . . .
The HIN on the transom AND the SN on the interior metal plate both show the last 2 letters to be 91.

That boat was NOT made in 1978.

Doesn't matter about the boat, we need to know about the engine to get the right manuals. That looks like a VP 280 drive, so not a '91. That HIN looks like m79 (space) I (not 1) to me.

Yes, but the format matches pre 80s HIN. The year of manufacture is after the M, so 79

The 1 (last digit on the SN is just an indent from something hitting it, its not part of the number you prosily can't tell from the pitcher. The last digit is IM79. I would like to thank you for looking into this for me. Thank you.

I don't know if it helps but on the engine lifter cover there is a sticker saying Volvo Penta 260 A

a 260A is a 5.7 V8 with a flat tappet cam and a 650 CFM carb, in front of a volvo 280 drive would put the motor/drive combination a 1986.

if the drive is a single prop, you use SAE 30 in the engine, drive, tilt, and power steering. if the drive is a duo-prop, then the drive gets SAE-GL5 synthetic marine gear lube

and Campion just went out of business again for the 5th time about 2 months back.

The metal plate may or may not have a dent in it, but the embossed HIN on the hull's transom clearly is M791. Or do my eyes deceive me?

its a single prop, with a 4barrle carb. so I can use SEA 30 in the engine, drive(lower leg), tilt, and power steering?
