can a j35 etcs lower end be put on a 35el77h. The j35etcs is 6 inches shorter than the 35el77h wasn’t sure if they could be switched out from the motor down. Thanks in advance.

So, in reality you are asking if a 1989 powerhead will fit on a 1977 motor? Somehow, I doubt it, but haven't gone through all the possible changes.

Is the J35ETCS a 1980 model ?----Pictures help.----Are you sure it is not 5" difference.

The motor without the cowling does appear to have a different lower unit ( cooling water inlet ) than the long shaft motor.-----Take powerheads off and see if gasket between block and exhaust housing is the same.

Sorry----Up to you to do the research.-----Many places on line where you can look up the part numbers.------I have to rebuild a 1974 model 40 HP for the grandkids to learn to waterski.----More worth while.

Driveshaft splines are the ones up top that go into the crankshaft.----You have to look up part numbers or take them apart to see if this will work !!
