Hello,

I need some advice with gel coating a brand new deck (surface is 4oz cloth with unwaxed polyester resin).

What are the steps for gelcoat with pumice non-skid? I have bought 1 gallon waxed gelcoat and medium pumice. Will 1 coat of waxed gel be enough? Or do I need a first coat of unwaxed?

Thanks!

spray gel
thow on pumice
vacuum what doesnt stick
spray gel over pumice

alternative methode
mix fumed silica into gel to make paste
roll or brush gel on thick
wait until it starts to set
go over gel with a loop roller (bed liner roller) to pull little peaks.
spray color layer over last.

did that here: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/1988-rogue-2420.486013/post-3435737

what ever you do, do a test piece first. I played around with 3 types of pumice, then went with the mix shown.

Great thanks! I will be rolling the gelcoat. I'll be sure to do a few test pieces first.
