115 mercury

My friend has a 1989 mercury 115 carburetor motor with no spark to top plug 4 cylinder I was wondering if you could tell me what the power pack is called on a mercury stator wires go to it coil wires go to it I need to get an approximate price so I can tell him thanks for your help

A switch box is about $300 or so.-----What trouble shooting has been done ?

Is this a 2+2 engine ?

No spark top plug coil was checked with ohmmeter same as coil below it I don’t know what a 2+2 is please explain thanks for your response

Some of the 4 cylinder Mercury motors only run on the top 2 cylinders below about 1800 RPM.-----The bottom 2 carburetors kick in at around 1800 RPM.-----No fuel for ignition on bottom 2 cylinders.-----Spark is there all the time.--

Thank you Racerone the boat don’t idle good and just plows the water don’t get on plane then sometimes it will kick in and run good and idle good thanks again for your help

The usual trouble shooting needs to be done.-----And it could be as simple as water in the fuel.-----Without some simple trouble shooting you will be guessing as to what the issue is.

Gee, take a compression test. If that has an issue, it must be addressed first.

I have that engine but its a 1997 model 115 hp it had no spark or intermittent on cylinder 2 turns out it was the coil was bad, and no switch box on this model it is but into the coils.
