Hi
I'm new to boating but mechanically inclined
Replaced impeller in lower unit and bellows and shift cable
Put boat in foward before taking off out drive and changed everything put back together and boat starts and goes into reverse but not foward or neutral after I try to take out of reverse it stays in reverse
Any ideas would help

Likely something has 'slipped' in the new cable. Maybe you didn't tighten the lock screws on the cable guide properly? Without knowing exactly what you did (and didn't do) it's really difficult to pull an answer out of thin air.

I suggest you trim the drive up, select forward gear by moving the shift shaft manually and remove the drive again. See if the problem is in the shifting system, or in the drive.

BTW, is this a Gen II drive or earlier? (is it even an Alpha series drive?)

I think that's what I have to do again I followed you tube video but I think I did it wrong because when I put it together the lower half of out drive it was not doing anything but I took back off and put back on then it had reverse but stays in reverse and no neutral or foward gear

Check what @achris suggested first. Another possibility is that the shift shoe is misaligned from the shift shaft when you put it back together. Also possible that you lost the large washer that sits on top of the shift shaft in the lower. Either way, first thing to do is see whether the shifting problem is in the cable or the lower unit.

the shift cable detached then set up the lower out drive to move the fwd drive key slot ...then remove it the lower unit .. see if it is an issue and setup the shift cable correct .
the bellows clamps will re-torque it a week or so ...new rubber ..
