I started my boat last week after a cold long winter.... I put on water muffs on and turned the key (and the motor revved up to full throttle and sounded like a single engine plane taking off!!!) ...something is seriously wrong! It ran fantastic last summer. I didn't properly winterize it some maybe it's damaged?? Thanks

A 33 HP or 90 HP motor ?----What type of muffs did you use?----Do carburetor / timing linkages move freely ?

Thanks for your reply. It's a 65 HP, the linkages move freely. The muffs are just the average rubber suction variety attached to a garden hose. I also tried starting it in a barrel of water. It revvs FULL out ...but what concerns me even more, is the volume of it. Sounds like a dirt bike without a muffler! Could the block be cracked?

I've never ran it. I shut it off as soon as the rpm took off and never tried starting it again. I'll look for the model #.
Thanks for your replies.
