Trim not going up with switch on shifter

ok guys i have a 2004 Suntracker with a 3.0 Mercruiser. my problem is the trim will go down with the switch on the shifter lever but it will not go up. It will go up with the "trailer up switch". Is this normal or do i have a malfunction? I just purchase this pontoon and trying to fix all the bugs. Thanks ahead.

This means the trim limit switch (round puck on port side of gimbal ring) is bad. It limits how far up you can trim before needing to use the trailer button. You can jumper the switch out in the engine compartment easily, as the switch is a pain to change and best done when doing bellows etc.

the wiring in the shifter lever for the button that makes it go up could be broken off the connector.
that's what was wrong with mine last year.

It's normal, and it's a malfunction. At least it's common. No need to fix unless you want to. Can jumper if you want like scott06 said or just use the trailer button.
