I am painting the trim so the type of wood isnt super important. I have the old trim but some of it is rotten and broken and will not fit anymore as the deck is now thicker than before, I also did some transom repair and now the transom is too thick to hold my motor, What do I do?

Painted trim would be oak. Varnished would be mahogany. Decorative would be teak.

I guess you need to plane or route out the transom to,about 1.5" where the motor goes.

Thanks for the reply, that helps. Plane off fiberglass? And if I do then wont I lose all of my strength?
