Water Streaming from Weep Hole After Impeller Change

I have a 1989 Merc Alpha One Gen 1 that I've just replaced the impeller on. Everything seemed to go smooth and the lower and upper went together well, being careful to align the water tube. While running it on muffs though, I'm getting a steady stream of water out of the weep hole on the lower unit. The water is as cool as the intake water, but I'm still getting a good flow of warm water coming through the exhaust ports as well. Is it likely that something isn't sealed properly, or is this normal? I'm having a hard time finding information on it, but to me, any water that's coming out cool is not being pushed through the to cool the engine.

That's the drive drain hole. Water SHOULD come from there. What you are seeing is a good thing, not bad. (Yes it should also be cold as it hasn't been through the engine)...

Ok, thanks for the reply. So it's normal for water to be "streaming" from there while idling then? I'm thinking I may not have noticed it before because I had a fair bit of build up in that drainage cavity that I cleaned out while I was replacing the impeller. It's now a full stream that shoots out a good foot at least while running.

That's normal... Nice solid stream...

Yes this build up probably blocked the flow... make sure it stays clean otherwise it can crack the housing if it freezes in winter

none of my drive squirt like that.something is not right . That is a drain cavity but never seen it with any pressure . It`s not like a outboard pisser

Interesting. When I was servicing engines the water always ran out about 1/2 metre from that drain hole...
