Mercruiser 5.7l carb, audible alarm test does not sound unless the trim up/down button is pressed

Mercruiser 5.7l carb, audible alarm test does not sound with key in on position unless the trim up/down button is pressed. Can someone point me in the right direction to fix?

Mercruiser Alpa 4v, it's the alarm which sounds when turning the key on without starting the engine.

Can someone point me in the right direction to fix?

Most likely corrosion, faulty ground(s), deteriorated wiring, loose/worn connections, stripped/crossed wire(s) or someone changed wiring the incorrect way
