I recently picked up a 125 force to replace my 85 force. The lower on the 125 is bad so I’m swapping lowers with my 85. On inspection I noticed that the shift rod (part number F85615) is broken. I have a new used one on the way. But I cannot seem to figure out how take it out. I’ve started with attempting to take the back half of the motor apart (the part between the power head and the lower). Has anyone done this before? Looking for some guidance. Trying to replace part 62 in the picture. Thank you.

How in the world did you break that???
Never saw one out ,yet a broken one???
To remove: under the bottom carb is pressed nut (that's a special locking nut #64) on top of the rod.
The lower unit needs to be off.
After the nut and lower removal it should come out the bottom.

I purchased the motor with the broken shift linkage. The lower is currently off, and I don't think it'll slide out the bottom. The lower mounting plate seems to be in the way. Heres a picture of the groove behind the steering pin the broken rod is in. Thank you
