Hello there, I recently purchased an old boat and it came with a 1964 Evinrude Sportfour 60HP outboard. I only started getting into boating last year and know next to nothing about it. I plan on putting it on my 1968 Starcraft Polaris that I am restoring. Was wondering if anyone had info on the motor that they would be willing to share? I know it's electric start but can't find much info and no service manual. Would it have electric trim? And where would be the best place to find diagrams, instructions and parts? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to iboats
Here are a couple of pages from the 1964 Evinrude Brochure
I will see about scanning some Service Pages

No Electric Trim, there was an Accessory Power Tilt for that engine

Some Public Libraries might have some service books

Here is a Link to a service manual the 50hp version of your engine, which is the same basic engine, has the same Magneto Ignition, same Carb, except yours has Fixed Main Jets. Spark Plugs might be a different heat range. The manual shows a different Gearcase for 75hp, that is the gearcase yours has.

Your engine uses a 50:1 fuel mix. Use a TCW-3 oil.

Do a complete evaluation of the motor before spending any beer tokens for parts.-----post compression test values.------Does spark jump a gap of 5/16" when you pull the recoil starter?----Check gear oil.-----Replace impeller before launching the boat.

Will do! Currently getting things together to do a compression test and other maintenance to see if it is worth fixing
