Just purchased this, Boat. 234 hours Volvo Penta 4.3 motor. Boat runs and drives great. However there seems to be an excessive gas smell from the motor compartment even after the blower runs. also noticed a whitish bilge water once when I emptied it. I emptied the bilge before I bought the boat and it seemed fine. although it was sitting for a month or so and probably accumulated some rain water. Motor oil is new clean and water free. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

What is the model number of the engine
Take any covers off the engine that are blocking your view and inspect fuel lines and filter everywhere for fuel leaks. Also inspect the fuel fill hose and vent hose if applicable for any cracks or damage. Take the cover off the fuel tank access and inspect the hoses, sender, and pickup and look for any leaks there

Found that the gas fill hose is significantly degraded for some reason. on a slight bend as it enters under the floor to the tank I presume. every time you take off with a tank that is near full. I think gas goes into that area and settles there and over time has eaten the hose away to the extent that it leaks. is there an easy way to change the fill line? or rather what's the best way to change this fill line?

Buy the fill hose in bulk from a marine retailer and replace it… no easy way to do it because you have to snake it in most likely a pita

probably something this size or similar https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-103-1-12-marine-fuel-fill-hose.aspx

local marina will likely have it as well

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Boats should Never be stored with the bilge plug in,.... Never,....

Always pull the bilge plug, 'n jack the bow high, so it'll naturally drain,....

Depends what the rest of the hose looks like. If it chaffed or other maybe but you need to eliminate the chaffing.

If the hose has timed out and is degraded no. Best bet is to remove so you can fully inspect inside and out, if you do that replace it.

Ayuh,..... Agreed,...... If it's aged out, replace the whole thing, No question,.....

If it's a recent damage, maybe,.. possibly,.... patch in a piece,....
