I have a 2007 4.3 in a 180 Crownline. Fuel filter has been replaced, water separator replaced. Boat ran fine last time I had it out for a couple hours. At one point I came to a stop and engine died, would not try to start with starting fluid . Got it home and it started and ran for a few seconds, then wouldn’t start again. Let it set for a day or two and it started again and ran for just a few seconds. Now nothing.. any suggestions? Thanks

There is a thunderbolt troubleshooting guide in the stickies top of forum page. I'm guessing based on vintage posted this is the ignition system you have. If your engine isn't carburetor (is efi) then you may have a different ignition system. A serial number and pics help determine your best next step.

As bondo says, check for fuel delivery and good, clean spark

Being a 2007 it might MPI but could be TBI, but need motor serial number?

MPI/TBI - running for a few seconds, I'm thinking fuel pump
Carb - ignition

Yep you need to do some troubleshooting to figure out WHY it doesn’t start. Spark & fuel…auto shop 101…

Your getting to much fuel, and the second pumper is just adding more. The 4150/4160 come in a variety of configurations (single, double, E choke, etc) and good thing is they are easily changed.

Do you know what jets are installed?

Love this thread, like many others it's motor/carb guys asking questions, speculating and getting along based on a single (and only) post from OP
