1995 Evinrude 88SPL Carb jet question

Hello,
I am rebuilding a set of carbs from 1995 88spl motor. 1 3/16 size throats. Upon taking the carbs apart I am thinking 2 of the low speed jets are missing. The low speed jets are the ones on the backside of the carb and screw in to the top of the throats. The left of the carbs have one in them but the right sides have a threaded channel for the low speed orifices but they are not present. Does anyone happen to know if there are supposed to be there or not? Picture attached

Hmm, Odd. When I checked the Parts List for your engine, it says only 1 is used, then when I looked at the Parts list for an 85hp of the same year, it shows 2. The parts list for the crossflow 115 also shows only one.

Without knowing what OMC did to the carbs, it comes down to trusting them. Since both carbs have just one Orifice, it makes it appear that that is the way it supposed to be. Unlikely both on the same side fell out.
BTW, those aren't Jets, they are Air Bleeds

How did the motor run prior to this?

Yeah that's what i'm thinking. I am just very unsure because someone has had these apart before and wouldn't put it pas them to forget to put them back in

But the Parts listing say only 1 per Assembly for that engine

I got this motor which had a blown head gasket. That is now resolved and compression is good on all cylinders. Rebuilding the carbs because when i pump the ball a bunch of gas pours out of the front of the carbs. You are probably right though since the parts diagram only calls for one on each carb. Not very familiar with this design on the old v4s. Thanks!

Sounds like a heavy/misadjusted Float, or a bit of dirt contaminating the Fuel Inlet of the Carb. When reassembling, don't forget to do a Link and Sync.

Look at the carburetor bowl carefully.----The high speed jets screw in from the side.----The low speed jets are screwed into the bowl from the top !

after looking at the schematic I see what you mean. Any idea what the ones in my picture are for ?

You need a total of 4 of those for your motor,.----The regulate an amount of air.----Need a total of 12 jets for your 2 carburetors.-----And 8 are calibrated for fuel flow , 4 are calibrated for air flow.

Thanks i ordered two more and and will see what happens when i put them in. It runs but was idling high as hell. missing those jets probably explains that.

That's a possibility lol. The side of the motor where these were missing from had a toast headgasket as well but i replaced that and now the compression is 110-115 psi on all cylinders and didnt see any damage or excessive play in the pistons. Definitely evidence someones been in carbs before though

Yet looking at the Parts Listings, it states only one per carb on some of the V4s. The motor in question is one, and I checked others, some also said one, while other engines it was two.
