Hello. At the beginning of the season I had a crack in my block. Finally found someone with a replacement 4.3Gl… Upon getting it back they said they replaced the impeller and changed the oil in both the engine and the outdrive.
When I took the boat out, the oil pressure is locked on 80 for most of the ride. Finally went down in the 50s-60s after maybe 45 minutes. Started it again and it is 80. The more concerning thing is the engine temperature was sky rocketing to 225+ I limped around for a while it would drop to 200 and as soon as I went over just over 1200rpms it’s up showing 225-250.
This morning on the muffs I started it up and it is immediately showing 150 degrees. Can’t be possible right? I ran it for awhile until the thermostat read 200. I put an infrared on the engine and it showed 100. The exhaust manifold showed 130 on infrared.
The boat seems to be running okay. I’m not sure if my gauges went bad (they worked fine on my previous engine). Maybe my thermostat is bad? Maybe they put the wrong oil in? Any help on where to start would be appreciated. (I do see water coming out on the muffs. Not sure how much is supposed to come out but I assume the impeller is fine.
