Trapped air after filter change

Can there be air trapped in the fuel line going to carb after changing the water separator filter? or would it bleed itself. Do I need to crack open a fitting at the carb to release the air?

I usually fill the fuel filter nearly full before threading it on but the system should self bleed.

Depends.....if will start and run, your good to go.

If you changed the filter and will now not start (air locked), you'll need to crack a fitting to release the air trapped in the line to prime the fuel pump.

I always run the motor prior to changing the filter to assure the carb(s) are full of fuel. Then start the motor and let it self prime

Make sure filter is near full of clean fuel before you screw it on.

Have never pre-filled a filter. Just screw it on and go. Carbs should have no problem purging air, the float bowl will be empty and all the air will be rushing through until it gets fuel.

Or you can add a squeeze ball like I did to help purge any air out of the line and help get fuel to carb quicker on a long fuel line run like I had.

As long as your battery is good…it will pull through eventually

Screw the filter on and go. No need to worry beyond that

Ayuh,..... With a carb,..?? No way, it's vented, air is purged,.....

I once serviced an efi motor, that seemed to need the filter prefilled,...
I usually prefill maybe 1/2 to lighten the load on the fuel pump, but it's not necessary,.....
