Can I replace "E140TLCOS" lower unit by " E140TRLCTE" ?
My concern is that there are two kind of drive shaft length: one is 25 inch and 20 inch. How to know the drive shaft length of "E140TRLCTE" and serial number "J0286240" as the attachment.

Not exactly sure of your question but both motors have a L in the model number which means long shaft or 20 inches.

Is that your question?

Thank you for prompt response.
My motor "E140 TLCOS" drive shaft length is 20 Inches and broken. Someone will sell me his "E140TRLCTE" motor ( Serial number "J286240") to replace my broken drive shaft. I am not sure the drive shaft length of "E140TRLCTE" is 20 inches because there are 25 inches drive shaft under "E140TRLCTE" as the attachment. My question is that how to know the drive shaft length of "E140TRLCTE" without separate lower unit from motor.

The parts breakdown just shows you both because they use the same page for both models. It's up to you to know.

The code says there the same, 20 inch, but if you look or measure the outside (tilt bracket to cav plate) they should also be the same.

The difference is 5 inches so it should be obvious.

I'm assuming you do not have eyes on the other motor?

The parts breakdown shows you both options for your motor too.

Again, e140t L cos the L means 20 inch shaft.
Brilliant. Thank you very much for throwing the light over my head. Now, Understand Letter "L" in "E140TRLCTE" means 20 inch of drive shaft length . I have another question: Could I replace the lower unit of Model "E140TlCOS“ by the lower unit of Model ” E140TRLCTE“ ? There are 1000 kilometer distance between these two motors. What is the key parts or parameter to decision interchange each other?

The 85 model appears to use the same lower unit as was used in the V-6.----The 83 model uses the V-4 lower unit.----It will fit.----Shift rod from the 85 has to be installed in the 83 lower unit.---Your location ?
