Is this a tiller motor? My kill switch did not work so I purchased a new oem kill switch. Still does not work? Any help you can give would be greatley apprcaited.
Yes a tiller motorIs this a tiller motor?
Wire goes through the rubber plug from the power pack, through the switch and over to a ground. (Grounds power pack when pushed) make sure wire is intact and it on a clean ground.
I installed the new switch into the plug and the other to the ground.Yes a tiller motor
Wire coming out of power pack to plug could be damaged, plug install could be incorrect, new switch could be bad.thank you I will check the ground

Do you have a multimeter and do you know how to do a continuity test?
My 77 35hp has a ground coming out of the power pack like this. Mines a control box but they should wire similar.
Your meter should have a continuity setting....or ohms.I just replaced the power pack. maybe the the power pack wire is bad. I had a meeter but I do now know how to use it on this?
Also, did you put the wire into the old rubber plug or did you splice it with a butt connector.I just replaced the power pack. maybe the the power pack wire is bad. I had a meeter but I do now know how to use it on this?
I used needlenose plyers and pushed the wire into the ruber plugAlso, did you put the wire into the old rubber plug or did you splice it with a butt connector.
Okay, your probes are in their correct locations so don't change those. Turn on your meter and then turn your dial to the bottom one that is just to the right of the 200 symbol. Should be nine clicks to the right.I really appreciate your help!!!
Thanks for the meter instruction. I tested the switch, and it is good. My problem is the switch was an oem part. the pin that goes in the rubber plug is not long enough and the wire cut 1/2 through. I ordered a new pin that should solve my problem. Thanks for your help!!!Okay, your probes are in their correct locations so don't change those. That is continuity. Now when you touch your two probes together it should beep. That means your puting power from your meter through your meter. So touch anything metal with both probes....it should beep. Do not touch anything that has power. Continuity is always done with no power hooked to it.
So if you take a blank wire right now and touch both ends than if it beeps than that wire is good. (Your sending low voltage through the wire with the meters battery power)
So then find the two ends of your kill switch. Put one probe at the end of one wire and the other probe at the end of the other wire. Without the button pushed it should not beep. Keep the probes touching those wires and push the button....it should now beep.
Maybe play with your old kill switch first if you still have it.
Here is a video and near the end he shows you continuity.
Report back for further instructions or that you found your problem.
Not sure I understand exactly but it sounds like you figured it out....so good job. Thanks for the meter instruction. I tested the switch, and it is good.
