1987 johnson 55 hp commercial tiller. So in all my messing around trying to get the spun flywheel (broken keyway) off I managed to booger up the threads on the crank. Can I use a die on these threads? Any other ideas of what to do? I tried muscling a flywheel nut down on these and it just ruins the nut. What size and pitch die should I be looking for? Hopefully someone knows how I can fix this. Trying to get this beast back on the water. Thank you

I see universal thread chasers on Amazon that automatically adjust to thread. Anyone use one?

If it were me I would clean them up with a small triangle file. Work slow and carefully. Patients Pays.

How are you going to make sure of proper fit , so that the nut won't loosen off.----Key might shear again !

I am going to lap the crank and flywheel together with valve grinding compound. Clean the tapers make sure they are dry. Torque nut to 105 ft lb

How are you going to make sure the threads have the proper fit / contact on the surfaces.---- That is how a nut stays tight.----Perhap loctite will be needed.

Ok I got it fixed. Used a small triangle file to fix threads followed by a die in the correct size. Didn't take much work at all to fix I have a habit of blowing things out of proportion. Thanks for all the tips I appreciate it as always
